This is one of the rare US
built Beneteau Moorings 38, with two staterooms and two heads
with headroom over 6'2".. The hull is solid fiberglass with epoxy
barrier coat (2001) and decks are cored for
strength and weight distribution. She has a fin keel with spade rudder,
reverse transom with swim platform, sloop rigged with double
spreaders, and roller furling genoa. Her current owner is only
the second and over the past 10+ years has added upgrades and
replacements for successful extensive cruising through the
Caribbena and Pacific NW. With a new Yanmar 3YM30 Engine with
less than 160 hours and offshore spec. mainsail less than a year
old, Poco Loco is in departure ready condition. As an
added bonus the owner, a former CYI & ISPA sailing instructor,
offers up to 10 hours of sailing orientation to the new owners.
Provided below is a
full description of Poco Loco's features from bow to stern. The year equipment was
replaced or rebuilt is shown in (brackets),
which the owner can certify to. Please read on then contact

Master StateroomStarting forward there is
a large private "V" berth with smaller hanging locker to
starboard and replacement headliner.
A huge hanging locker is in the aft/port section of
the stateroom, but can be easily converted back to its original
configuration as a private head with toilet, shower and hand
basin. There is excellent headroom, ventilation and light
through two hatches.
SalonThis has it all. Well lit
and ventilated with a large hatch and 4 opening ports, 6-8
person centerline table with built in wine locker , and 10 CD
changer (2000) sound system make it a great
place to entertain. Eurostyling bulkheads and lockers with
rounded corners, curved cheery wood surfaces with brushed
aluminum trim, add a comfortable ambiance at anchor and
safety at sea, while providing a vast amount of storage space for long
voyages. Newer teak floors and headliner (2003), and settees convertible to
2 berths, complete the package.
GalleyThe galley is at the foot
of the companionway stairs, on the port side, and has double
stainless sinks, hot & cold pressurized
(2006) and manual water with
an antimicrobial filtration system, (2001) corian marble countertop, a
rebuilt gimbaled stainless steel propane two burner stove w/oven
(2003) and ample storage.
Opposite to starboard is a 12VDC chest fridge/freezer
(2005) with the
navigation, communication and entertainment station above, which
will take a full chart display.
HeadA large three piece head
is on the starboard side at the foot of the companionway behind
the navigation station. With a vinyl headliner and walls, sole
and lockers in fiberglass it is easy to maintain and keep clean.
The head pumps either to a 20 gal holding tank
(2002) or directly overboard
when offshore.
Aft StateroomOn the port side aft of
the galley is a king size berth with hanging and other lockers
and shelves, and excellent lighting and ventilation through two opening ports and
hatch.
CockpitBeneteau invented the
well-designed cockpit that is ergonomically correct when sailing
yet is extremely comfortable when at anchor or entertaining at
the dock. For example, Poco Loco has a large combination bimini/dodger
(2001) giving excellent protection from the sun and rain, a centerline
table with integral storage, aft rail mounted propane BBQ
(2007)
supplied from adjacent domestic tanks, and a large
starboard locker and two aft lazarets to round out the
storage options. A large wheel helm with compass, rail
mounted hard-case Lifesling (2000) and strategically placed autopilot control
(1997) and depth/speed gauge
(2001), make Poco Loco easy and safe to sail in all
conditions. A step down transom with swim ladder and shower wand
makes for easy boarding when at anchor after a swim, from the
tender or kayak, or when stern tied.
Sail & RigThe current owner has
singlehanded Poco Loco extensively, both cruising and with
guests, so she is well equipped for
this purpose and a breeze for a couple to sail. All running
rigging is led aft to the cockpit for easy raising, reefing and
dropping of the sails and traveler adjustments. The 300 sq ft full batten
mainsail with battslide fittings and 3 reefing points was
engineered and constructed in 2007 by Mack Sails for offshore use. The sail cover with integral lazy jacks
(2001) makes the dousing and flaking
of the mainsail a breeze, even when running with the wind. The
375 sq ft 120% Genoa foresail is on roller reefing. There are four
two-speed self-tailing Lewmar cockpit winches 2 #46, 2 #30, and a #8 on the
mast. The original rod
rigging has been replaced with oversized offshore rated wire
(1997).
Railings around the base of the mast provide added security when
reefing the mainsail and hanking on the halyard. And she's
fast.
EngineThe new 2007 Yanmar 3YM30
30 hp diesel engine, with less than 160 hrs, is conveniently
located under the companionway stairs, which remove for easy
access. It's further accessible on all other four sides through
ports and panel removal. Fuel filter, oil dipstick & fillers,
seawater impeller and belt adjustments are all accessible from
the front. The prop was tuned and drivetrain fully
replaced/upgraded in 2007 including: propeller shaft, flexible
coupling, dripless thruhull, cutlass bearing and Shaft Knife
rope/weed cutter. She's been pampered with a 100 hr break-in and
serviced as per specifications every 50 hours. A new Morse
control unit and cables were installed in 2002, and exhaust hose
and water trap and heater hoses to the domestic hot water tank
replaced in 2001.ou
